My name is Patrick Corcoran and I live in the United States. I am working on my genealogy and am interested in locating relatives of the Corcoran's and McGaughey's. My great GF, Cornelius Corcoran left Ireland in 1849 on a ship named ASIA. He landed in New York on July 5th 1849. He married Margaret Cosgrove also from Ireland and they lived in Luzerne County Pennsylvania. I am planning a trip to Ireland next fall and would very like to make an epal prior to that to learn more about the culture and things to see. I prefer to stay away from tourist areas and see the real side of the country. Likewise if you are visiting the east coast of the US or would like some info maybe I can help you. Thanks pc

Dennis C.P. McMahon - 09:18pm Jun 23, 2009 Irish (#21 of 28)

Hi, I am: Dennis McMahon from Binghamton, New York; searching family History in Kilrush, Co. Clare, Ireland ( I know, what a rare topic, right? ), and looking for family/relatives for correspondence.

My great Grand-Father Patrick Joseph McMahon immigrated to Binghamton, NY U.S.A. - was born 1865 in Kilrush, County Clare (town/area of Bellagh[?]), Ireland to Sinon and Ellen McMahon (Ellen's maiden name was also McMahon, that's a little scary, but I'm sure/hopeful :) they were distant cousins). Patrick J. McMahon's siblings were Mary, Daniel, and Michael McMahon. Their Father Sinon was the son of Jno McMahon and Mary (the) Glynn ( I'm guessing Jno is an abbreviation of a longer name and why Mary was call Mary 'the' Glynn is unknown to me). Any information would be appreciated in finding further family history facts, and/or current family living in Ireland today would be appreciated.
