Catherine O'Sullivan - 06:37pm May 25, 2005 Irish
My grandfather, Patrick O'Sullivan was born in Ballyagran, Limerick in 1879. He came to America around 1900 (we think). We knew of brothers James, Michael and a sister Catherine, however when my sister, Maureen and I traveled to Ireland and spect the day with Fr. O'Neill of St. Colman's Church we found that there were 4 other siblings that my grandfather NEVER mentioned (he passed away in 1958)..there were Susan, Mary (born 1893, Ellen (1876) and John 1875.
Also we learned of relatives (?) Jeramiah Glavan, Mary Fitzgibbons, Ellen Twohill(or Toohill), James Toohill (or Joseph), Mary Connors. Patrick Sullivan, Margaret O'Neill, Henry O'Sullivan, Helen Twohill, Dennis Sullivan, Ellen Keane, Michael Hartnett, Catherine Donovam, Joh Flavham and Susanna Sullivan. These were the baptism sponsors of the brothers and sisters of my grandfather.
We beleive my great-grandmothers people (Twohill or Toohill) came from Cork since Ballyagran is so close to the Cork border.
I would appreciate ANY help ANYONE can give us...Do any of the names above seem familiar to anyone???
Please let me know..It is my mission to find our family. We are goinf back to Ireland next summer and would like to take some information with us.. Thank you,
Cathy O'Sullivan

Hello Cathy
I have just read your message with some interest. My father, Peter O'Sullivan, was married at Ballyagran Church in 1935, to a Mary Walsh. They were living at Ballyagran, prior to their marriage.
My father was born in 1910, at Castletown, Croom, to Jeremiah and Margaret Sullivan (nee Sheehan). Peter, my father, died in England in 1965.
I am wondering if we have a family connection? I know very little about my Irish roots and, like you, am on a mission to find them.
Very best wishes and looking forward to hearing from you
Patricia (Trish) Holme nee O'Sullivan

I am looking for a JOHN J SULLIVAN. Born 1871-1875 either in Wales or Ireland. Family says Ireland census say Wales. I have found that they did not keep the same ages or the year they came to America on the census report, But what info I was able to get from family was right on. Catherine's mother was Mary Mahoney and her father was Jeremiah Daley. Born in Ireland but on census she put England. She was married to a Roberts, had (looks like) 2-3 children with on dead. Then she married John J Sullivan abt 1896-7 (maybe). They had 5 children together, John 1898, Daniel 1900, Catherine A 1902?, William F 1904-6, James P 1909. Catherine and John stayed in Fall River MA. John died in the 1920's. Unknown when Catherine died. Their last address was 28 Fruit street MA. Any leads would be helpful. I can be contacted at EILEEN749@msn.com

Looking for O'Sullivans,My GGrandfather was Cornelius O'Sullivan, proberbly born around 1860-1875 he married I am not sure of her first name they had about 10 or 11 children one was my grandmother Margret O'Sullivan who was born around 1896 married Patrick Cotter of Knocknasna, Abbeyfeale, county Limerick.I believe her family was from there or somewhere near by.They had 5 children Mary Ita, Patrick, Cornelius my father who is 83 years old now, Edward who pass very young, and Jack the yank who was sent back to Knocknasna Abbeyfeale till age 22 to be raised by the Cotter family. Then returned to the states. They moved to New York around 1920 lived in the Bronx untill she died in 1927 at the age of 28.I believe there is relations there still with the name of Kanelly or Cannelly. To my understanding her family who moved to the states went out to Long Island.I do remember hearing that she had a brother Morris, Nick, and a sister Bridget I am vague on the other names.Any Information on the O'Sullivans would be appreaciated,I have never met any of my relations on that side of the family. My grandfather Patrick Cotter owned a Bar in Union City N.J. untill he died in 1960.Some of the Cotter's are still in Abbeyfeale but are the younger generation and do not know the history!any help would be great.can be reached at T7NES@aol.com Tara Cotter Nesci

My Gt. Grandparents William McMahon and Ellen Sullivan came to Middlesbrough,England about 1871
Ellen came from a little village just outside of Limerick called Bally.... Ellen was born about 1846 and William was born about 1842. I cannot be more accurate than this, as the different censuses all show different ages. William died in Hull, Yorkshire in 1904 and Elen died in 1919.
I need to know where they got married as they were not married in England They had 5 children, the first was Mary Ellen who was born in 1872, and I think they must have been married in a catholic church in Ireland shortly before coming to England. shep@shep1.karoo.co.uk

Hi Catherine
I was hoping you may have come across reference to my family from Ballyagran, Limerick. My greatgranma, Mary O'Gorman was born there (1851?)and left for England(with her brothers and sisters) as a result of the Potato Famine of 1845 - 49. I have no record of her brothers or sisters name, nor her parents. I was wondering in your research you ever came across the surname? I know it's a long shot but I have to ask.
Thanks from Trilby (in Australia)

To Catherine O'Sullivan from Mary O'Connor
I was interested to hear that you have a realtive called Patrick Sulllivan. I have a Patrick Sullivan who lived in Limerick and he was related somehow either to the O'Connors / Fealeys of Abbeyfeale, Co Limerick. Ring any bells. I really, really need info on Patrick, DOB, relatives and where he lived. With this info, I could look at a census and see whether he is a relative of mine too.
Many thanks, Mary

Hi. I am looking for more information on a Michael Sullivan of Tournafulla. He had a daughter, Catherine Sullivan, sometime around 1903. In 1910 or so, Catherine arrived in the United States (Chicago).
Any information would be greatly appreciated as I have hit a dead end with my research.
